Mahir S. Nisar

Principal

Mahir S. Nisar is the Principal Attorney at the Nisar Law Group, P.C., a boutique employment litigation firm dedicated to protecting the civil rights of employees who have experienced discrimination, retaliation, harassment, or workplace injustice. With years of experience as a civil litigator, Mr. Nisar has built a strong reputation for his strategic advocacy, deep client commitment, and relentless pursuit of accountability for those harmed in the workplace.

Mr. Nisar is an elected Board Member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and an active member of both NELA New York and NELA New Jersey, where he also serves on the legislative committee. His policy advocacy extends beyond the courtroom. He has testified before the Massachusetts and Rhode Island legislatures in support of workplace psychological safety and before the New York State Senate during the push to enact a statewide ban on non-compete agreements. Although the bill successfully passed both houses of the Legislature, it was later vetoed by the Governor. Mr. Nisar continues to advocate for reform that protects worker mobility and economic fairness.

As the host of the Workplace Justice podcast and a workplace justice content creator across social media platforms, Mr. Nisar educates the public on employee rights, systemic inequities, and the realities of workplace discrimination. His content helps thousands identify mistreatment, document unlawful conduct, and navigate difficult employment situations with clarity and empowerment.

Mr. Nisar is also a trained life coach through the Institute of Life Coach Training (ILCT) and is a Board Certified Coach (BCC) with The Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE). He integrates coaching methodologies into his legal work to help clients regain confidence, clarify their goals, and move through the emotional and practical challenges of litigation. He believes successful outcomes are rooted in collaboration, transparency, and the client’s own definition of justice—not solely traditional legal metrics.

Throughout his career, Mr. Nisar has represented employees at all levels—including hourly workers and management-level executives—in litigation, arbitration, administrative proceedings before the EEOC, NYSDHR, NYCCHR, and the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights (DCR), and in state courts in both New York and New Jersey. He regularly handles pre-litigation negotiations and takes the time to understand each client’s experience, develop a comprehensive strategy, and guide them with both legal insight and human-centered support.

Mr. Nisar earned his law degree from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he focused on civil and commercial litigation. He is admitted to practice in all state courts in New York and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, the Eastern District of New York, and the Southern District of New York.

Through litigation, policy work, coaching, and public education, Mr. Nisar remains deeply committed to advancing justice for workers and challenging systems that perpetuate inequality.
