Zanah Ghalawanji
Zanah Ghalawanji is Senior Counsel at Nisar Law Group, P.C., bringing a distinguished background in civil rights litigation, employment law, and advocacy for underrepresented communities. With nearly a decade of trial and litigation experience, Zanah is known for her sharp legal instincts, her commitment to protecting workers’ rights, and her ability to connect with clients navigating some of the most difficult moments of their careers.
Zanah focuses her practice on representing employees in discrimination and retaliation matters, hostile work environment claims, and a broad range of employment law disputes. She brings extensive experience in case strategy, contract review, regulatory compliance, and settlement negotiations, as well as a strong foundation in civil rights litigation developed over years of handling complex, high-stakes matters in federal and state courts.
Prior to joining Nisar Law Group, Zanah spent more than seven years as a Trial Attorney at the CAIR Legal Defense Fund, where she established a nationally recognized employment law practice. There, she managed a full legal team, handled all phases of employment litigation, and advised on matters involving corporate governance and regulatory compliance. She also served as a law clerk at a regional immigration firm, where she assisted clients with asylum, temporary protected status, and citizenship matters — experience that deepened her understanding of the intersection between civil rights and employment law.
A fluent Arabic and English speaker, Zanah holds a Certified Arabic Interpreter credential and is uniquely equipped to serve New York City’s diverse workforce. She is dedicated to ensuring that every client — regardless of background, language, or circumstances — has a powerful advocate in their corner.
